When students are lacking a sense of purpose or belonging at school, a School Jobs Program can help fulfill this gap for students. It also supports meeting student’s basic needs for attention and recognition.
When implementing this program, there are a few critical components that will support the program's success:
- Identify a supervisor for each job to develop a nurturing relationship with the student + provide positive feedback and consistency 
- Match students with appropriate jobs based on age & need for supervision 
- Provide training and needed materials for the supervisor 
- Ensure the student receives sufficient training in all skills needed
