You can increase the effectiveness of your Tier I Attendance Campaigns by focusing on specific days of the week or times of year that have lower attendance rates (i.e. dip days).

In order to identify your school or district’s dip days, click on the Attendance Calendar tab .

Review the Attendance Calendar for the following trends:

  • Which days of the week consistently have lower attendance rates? Why might students be attending at lower rates on these days?

  • Do the days/weeks immediately before or after a vacation have lower attendance rates?

  • What other days have lower attendance rates? Why might that be?

Based on this analysis, you can develop a plan to proactively maximize attendance on these days for the remainder of the school year. You may want to include the following strategies in your plan:

  • An Attendance Campaign prior to vacations/long weekends

  • Nudges (mail or text) to highlight the importance of attending school before/after school holidays

  • Special activities/incentives on Mondays/Fridays (or other identified recurring dip days)

  • School-wide attendance competitions/celebrations targeting a potential upcoming dip day/week
