How to Identify Attendance Patterns at the District, School, & Student Level

Noticing attendance patterns is essential to effectively helping students overcome barriers to attendance so that they can be in school to learn, every day. EveryDay Pro makes it easy to track attendance patterns and dip days at the district, school, and student level.

District Attendance Patterns (Available to district-level admin)

  • Hit “Attendance Calendar” at the top of the page

  • Scroll through the various months, and you’ll see the district-wide attendance rate for each day of the month, color coded to indicate lower attendance.

  • You may begin to notice patterns for district level attendance, such as a dip in attendance before and after school closures, or certain days of the week that consistently have lower attendance. Days with “NS” indicate a day where school was closed.

  • You can use the patterns noticed at the district level to help inform any district-wide initiatives around improving attendance on specific days or months, such as themed events as incentives for attendance.

School Attendance Patterns

  • Once you’re on the school home page, hit the “Attendance Calendar” tab at the top of the page.

  • Scroll through the various months, and you’ll see the school-wide attendance rate for each day of the month, color coded to indicate lower attendance.

  • You may begin to notice patterns for attendance at your school. Days with “NS” indicate a day where school was closed, and you may notice a dip in attendance before and after those days, or perhaps certain days of the week consistently have low attendance.

  • You can use the patterns noticed to help inform any school-based initiatives around improving attendance for specific days or months.

Student Attendance Patterns

  • Toggle to the All Students page and click the row of a student for whom you’d like to view patterns.

  • You’ll see within the sidebar the daily calendar, with a red dot indicating an unexcused absence and yellow dot indicating an excused absence.

  • With this view, you’ll be able to quickly see if a student:

    • Consistently misses the same day of the week

    • Misses multiple days in a row

    • Often extends weekends or vacations

  • Once a pattern is identified, it is easier to determine the intervention that will be the most effective.
